In many parts of the world Christianity as a religion is banned, and professing Christians are persecuted, and in many instances publicly put to death to frighten would be worshipers from accepting Christianity as their religion. Witchcraft: An Ancient Abomination That Has Been Given An Attractive Facelift In Modern Times

Who could ever forget the fun and enchanting television series “Bewitched” that ran from 1964-1972? What about all those much loved characters like Darrin Stephens (Dick York), Larry Tate (David/Daniel White), Aunt Clara (Marion Lorne), Endora (Agnes Moorehead), Mrs.Kravitts (Alice Pearce) and her husband Abner (George Tobias), and of course the beautiful and delectable Samantha Stephens (Elizabeth Montgomery), the star of the show. Even today the show still has a cult like following around the world. Although it is now in syndication the show continues to pick up new generation followers with the passing of time.

I remember watching and waiting intently to see Samantha twitch her nose and produce some more astounding feats. Before “Bewitched”, I often thought of witches as ugly and gruesome, not beautiful and alluring—except for the good witch of the west—Glenda, who was in one of the most cherished and adored movies of all time, “The Wizard (witchcraft/sorcerer) Of Oz”. Other than those two I always visualized witches as being old and ugly with the ability to do you much harm; they frightened me and were the source of many nightmares in my childhood.

But what does the word of Jehovah God say about witchcraft and those who practice it? How does God Almighty view witches and witchcraft and what instructions, if any, does He give his people concerning this matter? Is it something that Jehovah God approves and should we all be witches and practice witchcraft if He does?

Marriage is sacred and it was hallowed by Jehovah God Himself. It is through this arrangement that husband and wife share with one another; support one another, and rear their offspring together in a loving and caring environment. It was meant to be a life long union that could only be broken by death of one of the spouses.

Marriage was created by God to bring the man and the woman together in a way that would compliment each other. In other words, males and females were made differently but their differences would actually make them stronger and enable them to accomplish more if they were united as one in “Holy matrimony”. The differences should be celebrated as oppose to being a reason for discord, dissent, and petty bickering.

Jesus said, “Haven’t you read that at the beginning the creator made them male and female, and said, ‘for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate”(Matthew 19:4-6).

It is God’s will that marriages last a life time without the possibility of separation and that children be raised in a loving union with both father and mother. Read “Is Sex Wrong”?

“While He (Jesus) was still speaking, Judas one of the Twelve (Apostles) arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: ‘The one I kiss is the man; arrest him’. Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ and kissed him” (Matthew 26:47-49).

Many of us are quick to point out the betrayal of Jesus Christ by one of His apostles, Judas Iscariot, and how wicked and despicable it was. Throughout the world and especially over in the middle east, one of the worst things a man can do is betray someone that has befriended (eaten and fellowshipped together) him. It is considered by many as the ultimate act of deceit and deception.

Upon receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, it was, and is, imperative that we put on the whole ‘Armour of God’ (Ephesians 6:10-18): “Stand firm then, with the truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. The holy bible tells us that faith comes from hearing the word of Jehovah God. We must study the word of God to see that God is a faithful and true God; a God that’s loving and kind. Love emanates from God, so much so, until God did not spare his only begotten Son, in order that mankind could receive salvation.

Believing and trusting in God is tantamount to having faith; faith that can move mountains; faith that refuses to die, even though the situation might appear to be hopeless. God’s faithfulness is just as real today as was back in biblical times. His love for his people is timeless, that is why he sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of the world once… and for all. Read Faith
