May 30th, 2011 “Curse God and Die!” When Uncontrollable Anger Is Directed At God
How many times have we become so angry with God that we felt like we were about to explode? And how many times we have verbally assaulted God because we felt our prayers weren’t answered or completely ignored? It is not uncommon for people to feel disappointment or out and out rejection because of our situation and the things that are affecting our lives and/or our love ones.Time and time again many of us have lashed out at God because of circumstances we often find ourselves in. As long as we are experiencing prosperity and enjoying safe refuge we are at peace with the world around us including God, but as soon as disaster comes knocking at our door we are so quick to curse God and denounce all that He is and has ever been.
“In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.
His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, ‘perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts. This was job regular custom” (Job 1:1-5).
“One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. The LORD said to Satan, ‘Where have you come from?’ Satan answered the LORD, ‘From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.’ Then the LORD said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he s blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil’ “(Job 1:6-11).
“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. ‘ Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herbs are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will curse you to your face’. Then the LORD said to Satan, ‘ Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands but on the man himself do not lay a finger.’ Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD” (Job 1:9-12).
“One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said, ‘The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!’ ” (Job 1:13-15)
“While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, ‘ The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you. While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, ‘The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you! ‘ ” (Job 1:16-17)
“While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, ‘ Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you.’ At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: ‘ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.’ In all this Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing (Job 1:17-22).
“On another day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before Him. And the LORD said to Satan, ‘ Where have you come from?’ Satan answered the LORD, ‘ From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it’. Then the LORD said to Satan, ‘ Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.’
‘Skin for skin!’ Satan replied. ‘A man will give all he has for his own life. But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.’ The LORD said to Satan, Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life’ (Job 2:1-6).
“So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. His wife said to him, ‘ Are you still holding on to your integrity? ‘Curse God and die’, she replied. ‘You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?’ In all this, Job did not sin in what he said (Job 2:7-10).
When things begin to go against our plans and wishes we are so quick to lash out and blame others and in many cases we blame God Almighty and often curse Him in our hearts. We refuse to bow down in prayer when things are going bad and our problems seems to continue to escalate. Our patience for waiting on God becomes nonexistent and our faith in God is immediately thrown out the window. As professing Christians we are in many cases the first to abandon ship when it seems the flood waters are about to come crashing down upon us. Instead of us buckling down in prayer and maintaining our integrity to God we do just the opposite: cry out against God and accuse Him of being asleep at the helm.
Jesus stated, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘ Move from here and there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20). And Jesus said at another place, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea’, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask in prayer” (Matthew 21:21,22).
Murmuring and cursing God can be directly attributed to a lack of trust in God to provide and take care of you. A lack of trust in God can be traced backed to a lack of faith in God, and without faith it is impossible to please God. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the LORD; he is a double minded man in all he does” (James 1:5-8).
As Christians we must leaned to trust God in all things and never forsake our faith. Even when we are experiencing some very difficult times and it seems that we’re ruined and permanently shot down; remember what Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be open” (Matthew 7:7-8).
And Jesus went on to say, “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish/ will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who asks him? ” (Matthew 7:11).
In conclusion, it is imperative that we become stronger in our faith as servants of the Most High God Jehovah (Yahweh). We must be able to withstand all that Satan the devil will unleash on us in order to make us “Curse God”. As brethren we must pray for each other without ceasing each and everyday of our lives. We must support each other in every way regardless of our differences; if we belong to Christ we are to exemplify love for one another.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The love that Jehovah God has for mankind is beyond our comprehension. Can you imagine sacrificing your only Son for a wicked and evil person that will always fall short of God’s glory? I certainly couldn’t but that’s the difference between a sinful man and a loving and forgiving God that is long suffering and filled with graciousness.
If you who have received Jesus Christ into your life but turned away to follow Satan the devil, now is a wonderful opportunity to turn back around and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour while the opportunity is still available. No one knows what tomorrow may bring and for many who are among the living right now, tomorrow will be their last day on earth (millions around the world perish each day). So please, if you will, pray with me and repent of your sins and transgressions and ask God Almighty in the name of His Son Jesus Christ for forgiveness of all your sins. Pray from within and use your own heartfelt words to express your sorrow and your desire to pick up your cross and follow Jesus.
And if you have never accepted Jesus Christ into your life now is a wonderful time to do so. Jesus is standing at the door of your heart waiting patiently for you to invite Him in…and He will come in and dwell within you. Ask Jehovah God for His “Holy Spirit” and He will give you His spirit.
May the Great God Jehovah bless you and keep you through His Son Jesus Christ until we meet again. Amen and amen.
