They adopt the views and attitudes of the crowds no matter how detrimental they might be. To be seen as different and possibly “square” leads many people to reluctantly to just follow the crowd as opposed to being viewed negatively. Taking an unpopular stand against the majority can bring down the wrath of those who insist on everyone being in agreement with them. Pressure can range from mild verbal affronts to physical persecution and sometimes death.

For Christians, accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and following His teachings can lead to a life of persecutions that persists until death, but note what Jesus said, “blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me” (Matthew 5:11). Today, unlike any other time in history Christians are being persecuted around the world because of their faith and belief.

Jesus told us that, “then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake” (Matthew 24:9). Being a true Christian that walks in the examples set by Jesus Christ is and has always been a very unpopular choice for those who refuse to follow the ways of the world. And Jesus did not shy away from telling this to his apostles and disciples, “remember the word that I said unto you. The servant is not greater than his lord,. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also” (John 15:20).Read “Called and Chosen”>/a<

Many prophets spoke about the coming of the messiah (anointed one) as they were given utterance by the Holy Spirit. Moses (Genesis 3:15; Deuteronomy 18:15,18), King David (Psalms 2, 16, 22, 110), Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7; 11; 42:1-4; 52:13-15; 53; 61:1-3), Jeremiah (Jeremiah 23:5,6), and Micah (Micah 5:2) spoke about the coming of the messiah.

Jehovah (Yahweh) prophets would make passionate proclamations about the coming of the messiah and the work He was going to do. They were forerunners under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, speaking about future events that were to take place many, many years later. Read “The Lamb Of Jehovah God”
