November 2nd, 2009 FAITH: THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS UNSEEN (Having Faith In Today’s World)
These are some difficult times for many families throughout the United States, and even more so for many families around the world. With unemployment skyrocketing and the prices of goods and services continually escalating, millions of families are unsure just how they will manage in these tough times.
Struggling from day to day just to get by can become a challenge that leads to depression, anxiety, and the loss of will to succeed. Many Christians find themselves in these same situations and it’s sad to say that they sometimes lose their trust in the ability of Jehovah (Yahweh) God
But we have assurance from God's Son, Jesus Christ, that God will sustain us and keep us even in the mist of a famine. As Christians we must trust and believe that the "Word" of God is true and will never fail (John 17:17). When trials and tribulations come, and they will, we must stand on our faith. Jesus said "Because of your unbelief; for verily, I say unto you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you" (Matthew 17:20).
It's not difficult to proclaim your faith when everything is going good and it's not difficult to testify about your faith when there are no problems, set-backs, or pending disaster, but what about other times that are filled with pain, suffering, misery, and one failure after another? What about times when there’s no money to pay the bills; no food in the refrigerator, and the rent/mortgage is past due? What now?
When it seems that you are fighting a loosing battle and all you can do is wait on the end to come, remember what the angel Gabriel said to Mary concerning the conception of Jesus, “For with God nothing is impossible”(Luke 1:37).
Nothing! It doesn’t matter what type of problem(s), or the situation that you are faced with; nothing is impossible for God. We as Christians can stand on the word of God and trust that it will be as God said it will be. If you’ve lost your job, haven’t had a job, or about to lose your job, you don’t have to push the panic bottom; instead, trust God to take care of you and He will lovingly provide all that you need.
Jesus taught us to go in prayer and ask the father for all that we need and He didn’t make any exceptions-none. But James, the author of the book of James (Holy Bible) stated, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:6,7,8).
There are people that will tell you they prayed for help and they didn’t receive it, others will tell you they prayed and received help but it wasn’t enough, even though I am guilty of making both of those statements myself; it wasn’t because Jehovah (Yahweh) God wasn’t interested in my problems nor was it because of His lack of love or ability to step in and provide the help that I prayed for.
Truth is, the problem clearly and squarely rested with me. Because of my lack of faith and commitment to the Lord, I wavered in my faith…and that in itself is a sin. God is faithful and just to help us in the ways that we need, and it is His will to do so.
Jesus said ” Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith. Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:30-34).
Pursuing other goals and trying to accomplish things that I wanted to accomplish led me away from serving God and following Christ. I’m a contractor, a painter and drywall finisher/repairer by trade. I put everything into being successful; however, after time it became quite apparent that something was wrong and the problem was that Christ was not the center of my life.
I needed to make a stronger commitment to my faith and start practicing what I preached! God was not pleased with my actions and many times I simply failed. And when I finally got back up on my feet I was knocked down yet again. It came a time when I knew I had to get on my knees and pray. I knew that God was a merciful God; kind and loving; faithful and true, so I repented of my wrongdoings and asked for God’s forgiveness for straying away and being presumptuous enough to think I could do things my way.
My own sins prevented me from receiving blessings that God had already promised that He would willingly give us through His Son, Jesus Christ. My own sins blocked me form being blessed and living in abundance:”I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.” (Psalms 132:15). God’s love for His people is just as real today as it was when the Psalmist first penned those scriptures…and we can count on His (Jehovah) word being true from everlasting to everlasting–without fail.
When it seems our prayers are not being answered we need to stop and take a look at ourselves; don’t hesitate to do so. God is a loving Father that delights in blessing His children of all ages (Psalms 37:3,4). It is not His will that we suffer and live without the necessities of life. He graciously gives us all that we need and He delights in doing so but we cannot live our lives as if we are our own God and then expect our heavenly Father to come to our rescue when times are tough. No,that’s just not the way it works; instead, Jesus told us to first seek the kingdom of God and all His righteousness and everything else would be provided (Matthew 6:33).
In other words put God first and allow everything to revolve around Him. Jesus taught us to put our trust in God and have faith enough to believe that He will take care of our every need. Jesus showed us time and time again through His actions how we are to walk in this life. He demonstrated how we are to live as servants of the Most High God and how to be one of His own disciples. But the key to it all is “Faith”, without it we cannot please God; with it, together we can move mountains. How do we receive faith?
The bible states that faith comes from hearing the word of God…and believing it as well. We must believe that God can and will hear and answer our prayers according to His will for us. The point is this: we, who are sinful, do not know what is best for us; we might think we do, but we don’t. God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent all at once, and all the time. Ubiquitous. All in all.
So how is it that we choose to instruct Him on what He should do for us? Now that’s arrogance, plain old arrogance, and it is a sin. God stated that He hated arrogance and pride (Proverbs 8:13). Yet some of us have angrily approached the throne of grace; angry that our prayers have not been answered or that we are not pleased with the way they were. Talk about arrogance! Who do we think we are to begin to question God about anything? I am guilty!
But that’s what sin will do. Sin is opposition to the will of God and it refuses to yield to the word of God. That’s why it’s so important that we pray without ceasing because sin (demon) is always crouching at the door (Genesis 4:7). In order to please God we must trust and believe in Him; His Word (Jesus Christ), and the teachings that He left with us.
It’s no wonder I have failed so many times and in so many ways and the reason was I refused to be obedient to Jehovah God’s word and His will; it was as simple as that, walking in darkness trying to find my own way.
I now know better and I have changed paths. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” ( John 14:6). Now I have submitted wholeheartedly to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and now I feel confident that whatsoever I ask according to His will (Jehovah God) He will provide. Whether it’s a job; finances; healing; family concerns; persecutors/persecutions; whatever it is, I trust God through faith that He will provide all the help that I need.
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, why not do so now? Jesus is a loving and compassionate “Saviour” that gave His life for you, me, and the whole world. He’s always standing at the door of your heart waiting patiently for you to invite Him into your life.
His love for us all knows no bounds and cannot begin to be expressed with words. Please pray with me: Holy Father, I come before you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, and I repent of all my sins and wrongdoings. Father, have mercy upon my soul and deliver me from all evil. Wash me in the precious blood of Jesus and cleanse me of all my sins. I submit wholeheartedly and I pray that you will give me your “Holy Spirit” to dwell within me. Thank you Father. Amen.
The Holy Scriptures tells us that if we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that God raise Jesus Christ from the dead we will be saved (Romans 10:9). Hallelujah! Praise God. Welcome into God’s fold. Now begin to study the word of God and walk in obedience to its teachings. Pray to God without ceasing and seek to do His will. Amen.
If you once walk as a servant of God and a disciple of Jesus Christ but turned back to follow Satan, why not repent today and once again give your life to Christ? We all sin and fall short of God’s glory, and we all have done wrong in the sight of God; however, God is merciful and longsuffering towards all His creation. He is quick to forgive and always ready to receive you back into His fold. Satan will do everything within his power to keep you locked in darkness, but remember, Jesus is at the door of your heart waiting patiently for you to ask Him back into your life. In other words, Jesus is just a prayer away. Hallelujah!
Please pray with me: Holy Father, I ask for forgiveness for the sins and transgressions I have knowingly committed against you. I brought reproach upon your holy name by willfully sinning when I knew better. Father, I repent of all my sins, and I pray that you will forgive me and receive me back into your fold. Amen.
Again, God is merciful and compassionate; quick to forgive and abounding in love. Remember, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). You are loved! God loves you. Amen.
May Jehovah (Yahweh) God and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, bless you richly and keep you until we meet again. Amen and amen.

Note: Please understand that over time new revelations are given to me to pass on to all that take the time to read the articles/sermons that I post. Therefore, I believe it is imperative that I share these revelations to all who will listen.
In this article/sermon as with all my articles/sermons I use the name Jehovah when referring to the one true God, and I use the name Jesus Christ when referring to the Son of God. However, I want to set the record straight now, and correct this error.
The true historic name of the Father is “Yahawah” spoken in the ancient Hebrew tongue; Jehovah is a translation of that name. Jesus Christ is a modern day misinterpretation of the messiah “Yahawashi”. It is important that we learn to call upon the true name of the Father and the Son. Thank you.
