There Is One God and One Mediator That Stands Between God and Men: Jesus Christ

When sin first entered the world it brought about instant death, not immediate physical death but instant spiritual death that severed a holy relationship between God and man (Adam and Eve). Because of sin Adam was no longer privileged to continue in a close and personal relationship with God that included intimate talks and discussions (Genesis 2:15,19,23).

After Adam and Eve violated God’s commandment (Genesis 2:15) they were driven out of the garden of Eden and forever banished (Genesis 4:24) from reentering it again. They had disrupted a righteous relationship with Jehovah God through disobedience and self will. From that point to this very day, sin has tainted the whole human race; sin has been passed down from Adam and Eve to every human being that has lived (past); presently living (present), and will ever live (future). Sin not only tainted them but it tainted the whole world and everything within it as well.

Before the introduction of sin into the world there were no food shortage, disease, pestilence, sickness, or death. Sin and sin alone is the reason why the world we live in is filled with so much suffering and death. Sin is in direct opposition to the will and word of God. Opposing God’s will and word is tantamount to asking for a world of human suffering and misery. That is why Jehovah God explicitly told Adam not to be disobedient to His word, because if he did, it would surely bring about death—both physically and spiritually (Genesis 2:15).

We all know too well how that turned out and we are living witnesses to all the mayhem: wars, pestilences, pandemics, “so called” natural disasters, starvation, world hunger, and cold-blooded murders that have practically consumed the earth. Throughout the millenniums human suffering has always existed since man first sinned against God. Catastrophes of all types have destroyed millions upon millions of people around the world, and now more than ever the prospect of massive destruction around the globe looms above mankind each and every day—”nuclear destruction”.

No time in the history of man more than now, global annihilation is a real possibility each and every day we awaken. And with more and more countries acquiring nuclear capability, the chances for world peace becomes less and less attainable. We are living on the edge of humanity and there is no denying it. Our desire and prayers for world peace are met with more and more resistance with each passing day, as more countries; more terrorist groups; more militias, and even individuals with the right resources and technology urgently pursue a course of nuclear armament.

Unemployment, inadequate health care, or none at all; homelessness, financial insolvency, sickness (pestilences), and senseless violence that erupts almost anywhere and everywhere at will—without any warning whatsoever, is just part of the scourge that practically every society around the world is faced with in today’s time. Menacing threats of all kind leave many people cowering in fear, wondering how are they going to survive in a world like this.

All of these plagues are the manifestation of sin and the consequences that sin brought about. It is no mystery why the world is in the shape that it is in and why by all accounts it appears that the worst is yet to come. And no matter what genuine efforts are made to bring about lasting changes for the better, we continue to descend into more and more chaos and confusion. But the true answer and perfect solution was presented to the world over two thousand years ago—Jesus Christ. Praise God!

Jehovah (Yahwey/YHWH), the creator of mankind and everything else, the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, created Adam and Eve and also gave them a beautiful place to live called the garden of Eden. It was a beautiful place to call home, filled with peace and God’s glory (Genesis 1:25). All the wonderful food to eat that they could ever possibly want was made available to them by Jehovah God their loving Father.

No violence or corruption of any kind existed; in fact, they had no knowledge of such, it simply did not exist. There was no sickness, disease, pestilence, earthquakes, tornadoes, twisters, tsunamis, or anything else that could disrupt their lives in a world that was filled with beauty and bounty. Each and every day was complete with joy and happiness that filled the whole world—it couldn’t have been better (Genesis 1:31).

Satan the devil is the author of lies (John 8:44), and true to his title, he has lived up to his evil billing. Through his rebellious acts (Ezekiel 27:1-20) he seduced Eve into sinning against God. Eve in turn, encouraged Adam to sin against God also, and he did, thereby bringing swift judgment on the two of them (Genesis 3:1-24). Sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve, bringing with it death, destruction, sickness and diseases, along with being disfellowshipped from the presence of Jehovah God. Communication between Jehovah and man was disrupted when man sinned against God—God is a holy God that hates sin; yet He still loves the sinners (Micah 7:18-20).

Although Satan had interrupted God’s plan for His “crown of creation—mankind”, nevertheless; Jehovah God through His infinite love for us immediately made possible the way for salvation for fallen man (Genesis 3:15). At the appointed time Jehovah God would send His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) into the world to become the Saviour of the world for all of men (John 3:16).

Through His redemptive work He would open the door of eternal salvation to the world and become a high priest for all believers who would avail themselves of this great opportunity that Jehovah God made available after Adam and Eve brought death and eternal damnation into the world.

Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners and lead men into the glorious kingdom of His Father—Jehovah God (Acts 10:43). Through His teachings He showed men the way unto salvation, “I am the way, the truth, and the light,” Jesus stated, “no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). From the moment He was baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus stayed focused on one thing and one thing only: bringing eternal salvation to a dying world that would be achieved through His redemptive work on the cross.

After Moses had led the Israelites out of Egypt into the wilderness God appointed Aaron (Moses brother) and his sons, of the tribe of Levi, to be priests and offer up sacrifices for the sins of the people and for their own sins as well. Jehovah God instructed Moses on how He wanted the priestly ceremonies conducted and how and where they were to be done. Moses passed on the instructions to Aaron and his sons, and he also gave the instructions to the Israelites on how they were to offer sacrifices to God (Leviticus 1:1-17).

Burnt offerings, meat offerings, peace offerings, and sin offerings were to be offered up to Jehovah God by the priests for the sins of the people. Bullocks, rams, sheep, goats, pigeons, and turtledoves were acceptable oblations that were to be offered up for the sins of the people to Jehovah, for Jehovah said: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the souls” (Leviticus 18:11). Moses was instructed on what meats were acceptable as oblations and what meats were not. He was responsible for informing all the people of every command that Jehovah had issued to him to give to the people (Leviticus 11:1-47).

This was the first covenant that Jehovah God made with His people to atone for their sins. But Jehovah had a much better plan in store for all of His people, instead of the blood of bullocks, rams, sheep, goats, pigeons, and turtledoves to take away the sins of the people; He would send His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) into the world to atone for sinful mankind once and for all (John 3:16).

Jesus Christ, the Son of Jehovah God, came into the world to save sinners, He became flesh and blood that He might become a more merciful and faithful high priest for the people before God and to make reconciliations for their sins as well (Leviticus 2:17). Jesus ushered in a much better covenant than the first one that was given to Moses. Instead of offering up bullocks, goats, sheep, and other animal sacrifices, Jesus offered up himself once and for all to atone for the sins of the world. Jesus Christ shed His own blood on the cross to cleanse mankind from their sins (Ephesians 1:7).

It is the precious blood of Jesus Christ that has atoned for all of our sins. He bought and paid for the sins of the world with His blood that was shed on the cross. He arose on the third day from the grave for our justification, and He is now a faithful high priest that is at the right hand of the throne of Jehovah God interceding on our behalf day and night (Hebrews 4:14-16).

We now have a faithful and merciful high priest in heaven that offers intercessory prayers for all of Jehovah’s people—”Jesus Christ”. He, and He alone mediates between Jehovah and man with prayers and requests on our behalf (Hebrews 7:25). In fact, it is only through Jesus Christ that salvation has come to mankind. Jesus is the author of our salvation and there is no other name under heaven by which men can be saved (Acts 4:12).

In conclusion, there are many who claim to be an intercessor for mankind and there are those who people claim to be intercessors for mankind, but as Christians and true believers of the word and will of Jehovah God we know and believe without a doubt that Jesus Christ is the only intercessor between Jehovah God and man, “For there is one God (Jehovah/ Yahweh), and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus: who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time (1Timothy 2:5,6).

Jesus Christ came down to earth from heaven to save all men from their sins. Through His blood that was shed on the cross that faithful day (Wednesday, not so called “Good Friday) on Calvary Hill, our sins and transgressions were forgiven; washed away, and our broken fellowship with the Father was restored. In order for men to be saved they must accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. In order to be saved you must repent of your sins and seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Salvation is available to all, and to all redemption is just a heart felt prayer away. Your sins and transgressions can and will be washed away by the precious blood of Jesus when you repent, believe in your heart and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It is God’s will that all men be saved, that is why He lovingly sent His only begotten Son into the world to die for the sins of the world.

Right now Jesus is extending a gracious and merciful hand to all sinners in hope that they will seek repentance, and repentance is simply confession and genuine sorrow for the wrong you have done: all the sins you have sinned against God and also the people you have wronged in your life (Acts 10:24).

Please accept this sermon; this discourse, as an invitation to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It doesn’t matter what you have done and who you have done it to; Jesus precious blood can wash your sins away. Jesus died for murderers, child molesters, kidnappers, sex predators, rapists, thieves, liars, and all manner of wrongful doers. Jesus love for sinners is genuine and real and His desire for you to receive salvation is just as real too.

You don’t have to continue to live in darkness, Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture” (John 10:9).

Jesus came into the world to die for sinners is the most accurate statement in the world. His sole purpose was to atone for the sins of the world and lead men into the kingdom of God (John 10: 17,18). Through His stripes we are healed; through His death we have salvation (1John 4:2,3).

In order to receive this free gift of salvation there is something you must do. The apostle Peter made it plain and clear when he said, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghostt” (Acts 2:38).

Please, if you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, than allow Him in your life today—right now. He sincerely loves you and is waiting at the door of your heart for entrance. There is no fancy prearrange prayers that you must say in order to repent. No. In your own words just ask Jehovah God for forgiveness in the name of His Son Jesus Christ; believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and your sins will be forgiven (Romans 10:9).

If you desire, you can pray this prayer: Have mercy on my soul and wash me in the precious blood of the Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died on Calvary Hill, for the remission of sins for the whole world. Give me your “Holy Spirit” to guide me and lead me into doing your will. Thank you Father.

Once you have been forgiven study the holy scriptures and ask God to give you His “Holy Spirit” to guide and instruct you on how to live a holy life—He will. Now you are ready to begin your new walk in Jesus Christ.

I pray for your salvation, and I pray that you remain faithful in Christ until His return (1Thessalonians 4:16-18). We as brethren in Christ must earnestly pray for one another everyday without let-up. We must encourage each other and support each other in our walk with Christ. May the grace of God be with you until we meet again. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

If you once received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour but at some point turned back to follow Satan, please reconsider your choice. Jesus is a loving and graceful saviour that is waiting patiently for you to turn back to Him. Please pray with me: Holy Father, Almighty Jehovah God, I repent of all the sins I have committed after receiving Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Saviour. I crucified Jesus all over again with my willful sinning, all the while knowing that what I was doing was wrong. Father, have mercy upon my soul and deliver me from darkness. Please receive me back into the fold today, Father. I promise to pick up my cross and follow Jesus until the end.
